A Few Ways To Determine Whether A Pay To Click (PTC) Site Is A Scam And Is Going Bankrupt

Paid To Click (PTC) sites number in the hundreds - if not the thousands on the internet. Nowadays, ready made and generic Bux scripts can be found and bought of the internet for a couple of dollars, giving rise to a huge number of aspiring people who want to run their own PTC site setting up their PTC sites with these Bux scripts. With these huge number of new PTC sites on the internet, the number of scam sites have increased dramatically.

Here is some of the ways and things to look out for in PTC sites to determine whether a particular PTC site is a scam or is about to go under. Though this method is a good indicator of whether a PTC site is a scam, bear in mind that exceptions do exists and the site might be truly good or that the site is just taking longer than usual to acquire the “scam” status while slowly milking away investors and members money.

• Unprofitable business model
• Asks for donations
• Payment takes a long time to arrive
• Has too many promotions that give you too much while charging too little

Unprofitable business model

Many Paid To Click sites on the internet nowadays have either extremely unprofitable business model or a model that barely breaks even. Sites like this charge their advertisers less money than what they need to pay members for all the clicks. Sites like this are quite sure to turn out to be a scam as who in their right mind will want to run a PTC site that loses them money?

The way to determine whether a site has an unprofitable business model is to calculate their profit or loss for every 1000 clicks purchased and a 1000 clicks by members. Remember to take into account the amount needed to be paid the 1000 standard members who clicked and the amount needed to be paid if the 1000 who clicked were a referrer of someone.

Lets say PTC site A charges advertisers $7.99 for every 1000 clicks, pays standard members $0.01 per click and pays members $0.005 per referral click.

Income of PTC site A every 1000 clicks = $7.99

Money needed to be paid to 1000 standard members = 1000*$0.01 = $10

Money needed to be paid assuming that everyone of those 1000 standard members are a referral of someone (In a PTC site, nearly everyone is a referral of someone) = 1000*$0.005 = $5

Expense = total money needed to be paid = $10 + $5 = $15

Expense > Income

Profit = income - expense = $7.99 - $15 = -$7.01

PTC site A runs at a deficit of $7.01 for every sale of 1000 clicks to advertisers, which means PTC site A makes a loss of $7.99 for every 1000 clicks someone buys from them. PTC site A has a unprofitable business model and will most likely go bankrupt or is a scam.

Lets do a case study of Thinkbux:

Standard members get $0.01 per click

Premium members get $0.012 per click

Referral clicks are $0.005 per click

Thinkbux charges $14.99 per 1000 visits

Using the formula,

Income every 1000 clicks = $14.99

Money needed to be paid to 1000  premium members: 1000*$0.012 = $12

Money needed to be paid assuming 1000 of the premium members are referrals of another member = 1000*$0.005 = $5

Expense = total money needed to pay = $12 + $5

Expense > Income

Profit =  income - expense = $-2.01

Thinkbux runs at a loss of $2.01 everytime 1000 clicks are done. Although I assume that all 1000 clicks are from premium members, even if you take that all 1000 members are just standard members Thinkbux still makes a loss every 1000 clicks. It does not even break even. Thinkbux has an unprofitable business model.

Sites which have a unprofitable business models are more likely to turn into scams or go belly up as they just do not have the resources of finances to pay their members.

Asks For Donations

This is quite easy to understand. When a PTC site says it needs donations to keep it alive and to help pay the premium members without a valid reason, you know the site is a scam or is going down really soon. Sure, some PTC sites just need donations to get over a rough patch such as NeoBux which had their Paypal Account  frozen with 72% of their money tied up and had needed donations to get through. After about 20 days they got back their account and had given “donated” back to everyone who had donated to them in the form of referrals. However, more often then not when Paid To Click sites start asking for donations, you know they are going belly up soon.

Sites that ask for donations to pay members but do not have a valid reason are basically in a money losing cycle. They lose money every time advertisers buy a package from them that is why they need members to donate to make up for the balance, but as this is a cycle, they will always have to rely on members donation, thus hastening that particular PTC site’s death.

Payment Takes Too Long To Arrive

We all know PTC sites that take forever after we had cashout before we received the money. The cause of this if I were to put it into simple terms is that the money cycle is not moving fast enough, and is overtaking them. The reason the PTC sites cannot give you your money immediately is because they just do not have enough cash with them and are waiting for more advertisers to advertise with them. Once advertisers advertise with them, they use that money to pay off the earlier clickers, which however leaves the clickers who had recently clicked with no money and thus forced to wait. Sites that have a really long payment wait are bound to make many members unhappy and ultimately turn into scams.

Has Too Many Promotions That Give You Too Much While Charging Too Little

PTC sites that have constant promotion that seems too good to be true are more often than not going to turn out as another scam site. This is quite closely related to the unprofitable business model above.

Lets say PTC site B has a promotion package that costs $10 and gives you 20 referrals which is worth $20 and 1000 advertisement clicks which is worth $6. PTC site B has pays $0.01 per click for a standard member and $0.005 for every referral click.

Income from sale of promotion package = $10

Money needed to pay the members who click on the 1000 advertisement clicks = 1000*$0.01 = $10

Assuming each member that clicks is also a referral of someone (nearly everybody in a PTC site is referral of someone as the PTC site always sells referrals) = 1000*$0.005 = $5

With the 20 referrals, the person who buys the package from PTC site B would be able to earn even more money which PTC site B would have no way of getting without selling even more promotion packages, which in turn makes the whole condition much worse.

Expense = money needed to be paid = $15

Expense > Income

Profit = income - expense = $10 -$15 = -$5

PTC site B makes a loss of $5 for every promotion package sold and makes its condition worse as members would be earning more money with the referrals which PTC site B has to come up with.

Lets do a case study of Better-Bux.

Take a look at their Labor Day special.

Standard members get $0.01 per click

Referral clicks are $0.005 per click

Using the formula,

Income from sale of promotion package = $100

Expense = Money needed to pay members who clicked on the 250000 link credits = 250000*$0.01 = $2500

Expense > Income

Profit = income - expense = $100 - $2500 = -$2400

Even without taking into account the members who clicked who are referrals it is quite obvious that Better-Bux has no way of paying the members. Better-Bux makes a loss of $2400 every single time someone buys an advertisement package.

Needless to say, no PTC site wants to run at a loss, so these sites usually turn into scams so that they themselves can at least earn some money at the expense of members.

What Now?

These are just some of the methods I use to determine whether a PTC site is going to turn out to be a scam. I hope that you find it useful and be careful as you invest money buying referrals and time clicking on various different PTC sites. A PTC site paying you once doesn’t mean that it will never turn into a scam in the future.

But after all is said and done, even though some PTC sites I mentioned which makes some of the errors, they still have paid me, so do take everything with a pinch of salt , and make sure you do not invest more money than you can afford to lose. This way, even if you do lose money you would be able to absorb the loss.

Some Updates And News On My GetPaidTo’s (GPT’s)

I recently have been neglecting the whole GetPaidTo (GPT) industry and left the accounts which I had active in the hands of my younger brother who is supposedly helping the the work back home in Malaysia. The reason for this was because the boarding school here blocked GetPaidTo websites including PTC, PTR – basically all forms of GPT’s. Sure, there were ways to get around the school blocks but many of the GPT sites do not accept proxy members and actually delete accounts whenever they see 2 accounts having the same IP address. If I use a proxy, the chance of me having the same IP address is extremely high, so I figured it won’t be worth my time.

Anyway, here are some light and quick updates of what I can remember when I checked the accounts the last time I went back to Malaysia.

ThinkBux

I now have 4 referrals here, some of them which are even more active then me . I reached $5 which was the minimum payout last time, however I found out they increased the minimum payout to $10 and now only offer PayPal as a withdraw option if you are a premium member. If you aren’t a premium member like me, the only withdrawal option left is Alertpay. All this happened as the owner sold ThinkBux to another guy.

AugBux

This turned out to be quite the classic scam as this site is now not operational anymore. At first I though this site as quite promising as there were many many ads to click on, however now on looking back I’m pretty glad I did not invest any money or too much time on this PTC as it was a scam.

Better-Bux

When I went back to Malaysia I found out that Better-Bux had deleted my account. This was the 2nd time my account got deleted by Better-Bux and as usual, when I created a new account using the exact same details (this is allowed) all my stats were still there left untouched . I think it’s some sort of bug.

ClixNCash

I now have a couple of referrals in ClixNCash, however these referrals just aren’t clicking.

Cash-Hi

Same as ClixNCash, a couple of extremely inactive referrals.

CrewBux

This along with ThinkBux is one of those PTC sites that I feel has a lot of potential. I’m currently trying to focus more on this as even though I still do not have any referrals here, from what I have seen and heard is that is honest and does payout. Furthermore, the $0.01 per click is also relatively high.

Things I Learned From This Happenings:

So yeah, the whole GetPaidTo industry seems pretty nice at first as the concept of actually making money from just clicking seems very interesting and attracting, however upon closer look and after scrutinizing it rather carefully, I have to say that the GPT industry is quite volatile and I suggest that you do not invest too much money into these programs. I know of people who invest hundreds of dollars into such programs, but if these programs turns out to be a scam, that is it, your money is all gone. Even if the site is honest and paying you now, there is no guarantee that the site will not change hands into a dishonest person’s hands.

GPT’s are GPT’s, what you gain by earning free money even though in extremely small amounts is at the expense of stability and long term growth. That said, I still recommended GPT’s if you are keen on making money online and not sure whether that is possible as with GPT’s you can easily earn a couple of cents into your PayPal account in a day .

Paid Blogging

Nowadays bloggers can also make money and monetize their website by doing paid blogging. Paid blogging is actually writing a review or advertisement in you blog and then getting paid for it. It’s a win-win-win situation. The advertiser gets the word out about his site, product or service while the publisher (aka blogger) gets paid for writing a post on his blog and the readers usually get to know of some useful service and product.

This category, the "Paid Blogging" category is where I would write about what I learn from the whole Paid Blogging industry, reviews of different blog advertisement networks, news in the Paid Blogging industry, paid posts, my earnings so far and much more - basically everything that is to do with the whole Paid Blogging industry.

Note: From what I have seen so far, the Paid Blogging industry pays far better than the GPT (Get Paid To) industry. Of course to be able to earn money from the Paid Blogging industry the requirements are much higher, such as having a blog which is relatively well read. Oh well, I do hope that I can join some networks and write about my journey through the Paid Blogging industry.

This is a list of GPT’s I have joined and am concentrating on. I have joined around 30 GPT’s so far but some of them are a total waste of time, the ones I write about here are the ones I feel that possesses potential. This list is by no means exhaustive, but I feel this programs are some of the better ones out there. I didn’t rank the GPT sites here, they are written in no particular order.

   • Offers: PTP, PTR emails, PTC and PTS
   • Others: Pays out within 7 days, PTC links are from $0.0001 to $0.01, PTR emails are from $0.0001 to $0.01
   • Comments: Cash-Hi has a fair amount of emails and links to click a day. Most of the PTR and PTC links are around $0.001 and more. I like Cash-HI as it has a no minimum PayPal payouts and a lot of advertisements and emails to read daily.

2. ThinkBux.com

   

   • Minimum payout: $2
   • Payment processor: PayPal and AlertPay
   • Allows international members: Yes
   • Offers: PTC
   • Others: PTC pays $0.01 per click for a normal member, $0.012 for premium members
   • Comments: ThinkBux.com does not have that many daily ads for free members, but as each click is $0.01 it makes up for the few daily ads. Premium members get at least 15 advertisements a day. The only GPT site I found that pays $0.01 per PTC click and has minimum payout lower that $5.

3. Better-Bux.com

   

   • Minimum payout: $0.02 (PayPal), 0.02 (e-Gold), $1.00 (AlertPay)
   • Payment processor: PayPal,e-Gold and AlertPay
   • Allows international members: Yes
   • Offers: PTC, PTR advertisements and PTS
   • Others: PTC pays from $0.001 to $0.01 per click
   • Comments: Better-Bux.com offers PTC, PTS, PTR, however the bulk of the money I make is from the PTC area. I have been paid by this site before and it paid me within 6 hours of requesting.

4. ClixNCash.com

   

   • Minimum payout: $0.25 (PayPal), 0.50 (e-Gold) 
   • Payment processor: PayPal and e-Gold
   • Allows international members: Yes
   • Offers: PTC, PTR advertisments and PTS
   • Others: PTC pays from $0.001 to $0.01 per click, PTS pays $0.10
   • Comments: ClixNCash.com has lots of PTS (about a thousand) and a fair amount of PTC, and as the payout for is relatively low, it’s easy to reach payout within a day by just doing offers in the PTS section.

5. CrewBux.com

   

   • Minimum payout: $5
   • Payment processor: PayPal and AlertPay
   • Allows international members: Yes
   • Offers: PTC
   • Others: PTC pays $0.01 per click
   • Comments: CrewBux.com offers a decent amount of money per PTC click which is good as it makes up for it’s lack in daily advertisements.

6. AugBux.com (SCAM – DEFUNCT )

   • Minimum payout: $5
   • Payment processor: PayPal
   • Allows international members: Yes
   • Offers: PTC
   • Others: PTC pays $0.0125 per click
   • Comments: AugBux.com has one of the highest amount per PTC click I have found so far. Has quite a lot of advertisements a day.

Basic Things To Know About GPT (Get Paid To) Sites And The Industry

First of all, GPT (Get Paid To) sites which comes in many different forms, such as PTC (Paid To Click), PTP (Paid To Promote), PTS (Paid To Signup) and PTR (Paid To Read). GPT sites usually offer all of the above, but might only major in one or 2 of the areas.

PTR and PTC’s are very slow earners, usually earning you between $0.001 cent to $0.02 cents per read or per click. Though they earn you very little, they are generally the more stable sites as they provide plenty of links a day and you can earn a steady bit of money through it.

PTS sites usually earn you a fair bit of money until you exhaust all the offers the PTS site offers and you then don’t have any new offers to complete which also means no cash. Offers offered at PTS sites are categorized into "safe" and "unsafe" offers, "safe" offers being the ones that don’t need any credit involvement or money. "Unsafe" offers are the ones that requires either a credit card or a little bit of money involved, this "unsafe" offers tend to give you a higher return. Offers at PTS sites can earn you anywhere from $0.10 to $10.00 or more.

GPT sites usually pay through 2 different types of payment processors, Alertpay and Paypal. As recently Paypal has been banning certain GPT sites Paypal account, many GPT sites have been using Alertpay as an alternative payment processor. If you have accounts at 2 of these payment processors, then congratulations, you can now recieve earnings and payment from just about any GPT site out there:).

The time from cashing out to actually recieving payments varies from site to site. Some a few months, some instantly. The fastest payment I ever had was 4 hours after I requested a cash out.

Many GPT sites favour residents from the USA, Australia, Canada and Britain. This is especially obvious in PTS sites which restrict their membership to certain countries. PTS that opens their membership to international members usually have lower paying offers for them.

GPT sites are everywhere in the internet, there are literally hundreds and hundreds of them. Finding the good and genuine GPT sites however proves a problem to everybody as some of them are scams where they credit you with insane amounts of money but you never actually get to lay your hands on it. Other scam sites start off honestly and actually pay their members, once people start putting confidence in it and start investing serious money, the owners of such sites then just take up their earnings and run, leaving people like me and you stuck with nothing.

Oh, and the scripts used to run these GPT sites are the usual 3 types of scripts. So don’t be surprised if you run into sites with exactly the same scripts but just a different theme.

So if you don’t mind clicking for peanuts and the fact that you’re facing the possibility that you are investing time and money into a scam site, then the GPT industry is the right one for you:P. Hope I din’t paint such a bleak picture for you all, because the fact is, GPT is still one of the simplest way to earn a little money, even though it might not be the best.
