As the title of the posts says, you can now buy advertising space on Drett. While designing my new Wordpress theme for Drett (the current one I’m using, it’s new!), I designed to allow for premium placing of advertisements. And now since I have more or less finished designing the theme and am currently using it, I am now selling advertising space on Drett.
Currently there are a few ways to advertise on Drett, the sitewide 125 x 125 button advertisement that is located on the top right corner of the sidebar, the post-level 300 x 250 square advertisement and the free products/services review.
As Drett is a relatively new site, I’m selling my advertisement spots at a really cheap rate – so cheap you have to admit it is cheap. The sitewide 125 x 125 button advertisement space is going at a rate of $1.00 for a period of 30 days. That is really cheap especially since it is in a prime position, right near the top of the page.
The post-level 300 x 250 square advertisement space is going at a cheap rate of $5.00 for a period of 30 days. This post-level advertisement space is a non-rotating advertisement space, which means that only 1 person can buy it for the period of 30 days and that 1 person’s advertisement will appear either right at the top, in the middle, or right at the bottom of the posts on every single posts of Drett. If that posts is particularly popular, the more the better for you
The one other way to advertise on Drett is with the free product/services review. This means you send me or provide to me a product or service you want to be reviewed, and once I have chosen to review it, I’ll write a fair and informative review, thus bringing up the buzz level of your product or service
. It can either be an ebook you are selling, or an invitation to a beta site or even a normally paid service provided free to me.
Oh, even though I have stated the prices of the advertisement spaces, if you’re good at haggling, then you might even get to lower the already incredible low advertisement spaces rates. So what are you waiting for? Use the contact form at the end of the posts to contact me and make a deal.

I just want to take this time to apologize for the downtime recently. Basically it was due to me trying out the InstantUpgrade Wordpress plugin to upgrade my Wordpress from version 2.5.1 to 2.6. The plugin broke my blog, and I stupidly didn’t make a total backup of my site - I only backed-up the database. Anyway, to cut things short, my site was online off and on for the last few days and as the database had a bit of problems, I didn’t get to save al the comments during that period of time. Really sorry guys, I have learnt my lesson and am going to make full backups of my site from time to time now
One other thing, I’m now using Wordpress 2.6 and it has quite a few useful features. The one I like most about the upgrade is that now when choosing a theme I get to preview the theme. It’s quite cool. For those of you who have not upgrade, I suggest do not upgrade yet as 6.1 is coming out soon (I heard) to fix some bugs in this version of Wordpress, and besides, Wordpress 2.5.1 works perfectly fine.
Oh, and for those of you who use Windows Live Writer with Wordpress, you have to turn on the XML-RPC option in Wordpress to able to use Windows Live Writer with it. To do that, go to Settings, then to Writing, and tick the enable XML-RPC protocol box. XML-RPC is now turned off by default in Wordpress 2.6, and to use Windows Live Writer with it, you need it to be turned on.
That’s all the site news for now guys.
Note: I’m still trying to get back my blog to how it was before the upgrading fiasco. So please bear with me. Thanks
Drett recently has been undergoing some changes, some good some bad, some done with a purpose, some unknowingly.
.
I’m currently try to decide how to categorize my posts, whether I want to use sub-categories (which I’m still against), what categories I want on my blog and so forth. It’s kind of a big thing for me as I’m currently redesigning a new theme for Drett, and I need to know all these details so I can design with certain out-comes in mind. BTW, the template is on the drawing board, and when the new one comes out, I’ll be giving this template which I named experimental1 away for free, all I want in return is that you keep the backlinks.
The other major thing that might change without me wanting it to is the permalinks of the posts on this site. I’m using Windows Live Messenger to write out my posts and everything, and I recently found out that time I set for my posts to be published and my actual posting time has a few hours difference. Some of you might think it’s a small deal, since it’s just a couple of hours, but for someone like me who uses the month and date in the permalink structure, it means I might run the risk of actually posting into the day before when I’m editing my post. Anyway, I’m looking around the internet for ways to solve this problem. Another reason why my permalinks might change is that I’m correcting some posts slugs which I feel is incorrect.
Other minor changes I’m going to be making is small aesthetics changes.
Anyway, this is just a heads up to you all. I’m going to do some serious cleaning up and tidying up of my blog.
P.S. If you guys find any error when trying to posts comments or whenever, please send an email to ddkoh92@gmail.com. It would be much appreciated. Thanks
I have been thinking about this website Drett.com recently, it started as a hobby and pet website where I could learn about the basics of everything to do with a website - how to set up wordpress, move a wordpress installation, use FTP, deal with mysql and databases, how to design websites, importance of search engine optimization(SEO), how to write articles for the website and a whole lot more. I poured countless hours of my time into Drett.com, wanting it to be like some of the big-named blogs out there, then I finally got thinking that I can never be exactly like them simply because I am NOT them.
From now on, I just want to be me. Not be some of the pro-bloggers out there. Just simple me.
And to show how committed I am in changing my site from the ground up totally, I have deleted my old installation of wordpress and just started anew. Deleting every single old post of mine and start with a fresh new sheet of paper. NOTE:I am still using my old theme though, until I have found time to created another better theme :).
Drett.com would now be something of a personal blog to me. A blog where I right about some of the random stuff I learn through my daily life, mistakes I have made and learnt something from, shoutout to the newest gadgets, reviews on places and products, some life-tips that would be useful for everybody out there, my comments on the things happening in the world, a record of my new ventures, tips I pick up on the areas of finance and budgeting, stuff I learn about website, blogging and computers, and everything else that I know would benefit and interest the reader.
In short - Drett.com would be my blog where I would posts things that I have learnt through life and useful information that you might not have known.
